Today marks the beginning of Lent, and prior to becoming a Lutheran, I knew just about nothing when it came to Lent, or what this day is supposed to be about. It's amazing how little they are taught in some Christian denominations.
And for this year, I have given up something during Lent; no, in the case of Lutherans, it's not a requirement (in case you were wondering). Hopefully, it won't become a shallow thing on my part.
It's a shame I didn't learn about Ash Wednesday and Lent sooner.
