Now this one surprised me.
It was reported today that my Lt. Governor, Becky Skillman, will not be seeking a run for Governor of Indiana in 2012 due to a recently discovered health situation. There's no mention as to what the condition is, but it has been stated it will not affect her work as Lt. Governor.
Of the three people whose names have been brought up as possible candidates for Governor, I personally thought Lt. Gov. Skillman would run for the top job, but now with herself and Evan Bayh out of consideration, only Mike Pence remains on that list. Not much for the rumor mills to gin up, is there?
While it's still just speculation about what the Congressman will do in the next two years, one thing is also certain: with Lt. Gov. Skillman out, it'll be a free-for-all in the Republican primaries. As with both the upcoming U.S. Senate race and the race for President, the race for Governor looks to be interesting (to say the least).
As for Lt. Gov. Skillman, I hope she will recover from whatever her health condition is, and I thank her for her years in public service.
